The US housing market is poised for a "double-dip" downturn in spite of an unexpected increase in house prices in January.

Sales in Britains supermarkets are growing at their slowest rate for 2 years, industry data revealed last night. Kantar Worldpanel, the market researchers, said that sales at Britains grocers had increased by 3.6 per cent in the 12 weeks to March 21. This was the slowest rate of growth since August 2007.

Good morning traders!

In the US last night, the Dow added 12 points at 10,907, the Nasdaq rose 6 points
at 2,411 and the S&P500 was flat at 1,173.

In Asia today, the Nikkei was up 42,81 points at 11,139.95, while the Hang Seng
ended the morning down 34.85 points at 21,339.94.

Crude oil traded at $82.37 a barrel on Nymex.
