In the US Friday, the Dow fell 100 points at 12,596, the Nasdaq composite lost 35 points at
2,828 and the S&P500 dropped 11 points at 1,338.

In Asia today, the Nikkei was recently off 61 points at 9,588, while the Hang Seng ended
the morning off 276 points at 23,000.

WTI crude oil traded at $98.80 a barrel and gold settled at $1,489 an ounce.
