GLORIOUS GOODWOOD SELECTIONS (RACE)

MONEYTALKS - 25 Jul 2011 21:14

Welcome to the 2011 Glorious Goodwood meeting

Good luck with your selections

jkd - 25 Jul 2011 22:34 - 2 of 12

M
not a horse gambler but frankel as i recall watching on tv won a big race very easily, blew the field away, led from start to finish and won easily.watched him again and he also won but i gather it was a slightly longer distance and i recall thinking that what i thought from my previous viewing was an unbeatable horse, that he was under pressure and might actually get beaten although he didnt.
seems theres a lot to do with some horses being better at only certain distance races and less so at other distances.
reading the papars it seems he is now running again at goodwood this week against another top horse canford cliffs.havnt seen him run.but seems its going to be a real challenge between two top horses.
if its at the shorter distance i dont see any horse beating frankel judging from what i saw. but then i have never seen canford cliffs run so it must be some horse.
any opinions?
regards
jkd

Hi jkd - It will be an intriguing battle between the "freakish" Frankel and the brilliant Canford Cliffs on day 2, and as difficult it is to choose between the pair, I sense Frankel will triumph. Frankel proved that he is invincible with his devastating demolition of the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, but showed signs of weakness at Royal Ascot in the St James Palace stakes. The Sir Henry Cecil-trained colt tired towards the end of the race after exerting his breath-taking pace on the Ascot course. I would expect this time around however that connections to Frankel will have gone into this race with a stubborn tactical plan to win, and with that in place, I can only see Frankel maintaining his unbeaten record to eight races.

Whatever the result, it will be a tremendous spectacle that will capture the horse racing world and confirm which of the two is the best horse in the world.

Good luck!
