Cupid plc has just sold several websites for "casual contact" a rather disturbing face of Dating Agency (although it's a money=making scheme and probably no-one really care if folks behave themselves.).
What I find surprising is that any new business is able to rais £45m to spend on what amounts to a list of fleeting names, they come, they go and Love, Likes and the Law take their toll.
Surely anyone that want to replicate this business only needs to offer a slightly cheaper product, or tastier peoples to attract customers? I'd have thought it's a wholly risky purchase . . . esp when the vendor is still in a very similar line of business - which probably means many of those "signed-up" to several sites, there being little reason not to.
Soon we'll have Avatars pretending to be real people and on-line 24/7 - grief whoever said Beauty is in the eye of the beholder . . . . er, no squire that luvver is just a pile of pixels on your screen.
Oooer.
