In the US last night, the Dow finished up 9.79 at 18,129.96 the Nasdaq up 6.33 at 5,241.36 and the S&P 500 up 0.64 at 2,139.76.

In Asia, the Nikkei was recently up 291.77 points at 16,791.21 - the Hang Seng up 141.08 at 23,671.94.

WTI crude oil traded at $43.44 a barrel and Brent at $45.88.

Gold settled at $1,313.70 an ounce.
