Oracle announced that starting with Firefox 52, the 32-bit version of the browser will no longer run the Java applets. Support for Flash also has to end but will be done some time later. Extended Support Release (ESR) is one possibility for the Java applets to continue to work. ESR is an enterprise focused solution from Mozilla and comes with updates and fixes for one year, but it isn’t targeted at the general public. The Firefox 52 ESR (32-bit) will support plugins for now.
