News Headlines:   

The Dow Jones confirmed that the Bull Run is still well in place by closing near to the days high, The gains began after Citigroup and Bank of America reported results that beat Wall Street's expectations. IBM stock rose in after-hours trading as the company boosted sales and increased net income for the first time in nearly two years. It is now beginning to look as if the markets have breached the 3 year downtrend resistance line and are set for more gains for the short term.Debenhams: Slightly ahead of analysts forecasts due to higher sales and increased margins. This is interesting for the retail sector after MKS reported a slowdown in sales last week. Look for a lift in the sector this morning especially with the rise on the FTSE to support it.  NXT?

Safeway: said its like-for-like sales dipped 0.1 percent during its fourth quarter but pre-tax profits would still be in line with market forecasts. Analysts had been anticipating a drop of up to two percent in like-for-like sales growth, which includes fuel sales.

Invensys: Will not pay a final dividend and announced it will be selling more business's to raise funds. They are going to concentrate on the profitable rail engineering part of the business. The engineering group said trading conditions had continued to weaken. It also said Martin Jay would take over as chairman in July.
