Streaming news?

Mr Euro - 01 Apr 2003 11:52

Does anybody know of a link where I can obtain real time streaming news?

Thanks.

I have always been surprised at the lack of these, don't recall ever finding one, or a memorable one.

Same goes for Bulletin Boards - why not a streaming BB - easy to do via dhtml.

This is as close as I have found to realtime news.

Andydble:

Re streaming bulletin boards: we originally intended to have one and may still do it. There is an argument for having it thread specific, eg, the Traders' Thread. As for streaming news, we have all the technology (did it years ago for Euro2000). It's not a technology issue -- but there are quite a lot of other issues. Also, DHMTL introduces a number of show stoppers with older browsers --which many people still use either though sloth or necessity. Of itself, DHMTL is a doddle, but it's not a great system solution for a wide, disparate audience.

Cheers

Derek (IST and MoneyAM)

PS: Try the BBC news ticker -- provided you are using Windows and not a Mac/Linux/UNIX system.

There's also an FT news ticker, again Windows only.

Mr Euro - There's also this web site http://www.newsisfree.com/ that offers customisation but not steaming - I just thought I'd post it up as there isn't another news/trading tools thread.

Thanks all. Will look at them tomorrow. Just seen this thread as I dont come over here too often, perhaps I should, more activity than the traders board!
