Does anyone know what is going on with GNE?
Price has risen lately but the size of the buys are getting bigger? is this a prelude to some real action?
I have a small holding from way back, but I am considering buying more as it would seem that something big may be about to happen. On the sort of volumes that are going htrough at the moment it looks as though a few more larger buys would push the price up considerably.
I could do with just be a little more sure. Does anyone know anything or have any thoughts!

Results were nothing but very very ordinary. Company is consolidating its interests. Seems to be some tie in with Russia and gas, but other than that I guess only the city knows ! They surely can't be this price just for selling petrol as they aren't always the cheapest. Need to rise a lot further for previous holders of Middlesex Holdings to come out in front.
Agree some of the buys are large, and could only buy 2k online this morning. Wanted 3k but had to split the buys into 1k and then 2k. Will treat as a speculative punt for the time being as they only came on the radar due to the climb in volumes.

farmboy - looks like a bit of profit taking, this afternoon. But all bar one of the sells are relatively small, with the larger transactions being buys. Its does make you wonder doesn't it. It is almost as though a few people are in the know!

Apparently GNE was mentioned in the Evening standard tonight and on thisismoney .com so will proabably attract some attention tomorrow. Could go big time.

LetsMakeSome - most sells are very small trades usually between 200 - 400. I can only think these may have been subsequent holders of Middx Holdings who had their 1000's of shares consolidated by the 1 for 100 consolidation a while back. As these shares have risen so much since the start of April maybe they're just cutting their losses as Middx Holdings was a pretty high price @ one stage.
There just must be something going on here and we probably won't get to jear anything at all until the AGM which I believe is next week, so not long to wait.
As I paid top price for my 3k today, I'm looking for a lower entry point in the morning.

News which will not harm the share price :
LONDON (AFX) - Global Natural Energy PLC said it is to invest 1 mln stg and
acquire a 19.9 pct interest in a new UK gas distribution group, which it says
will provide the bedrock of its move into gas distribution.
Chief executive Farhad Moshiri, commented; "We are delighted to have been
able to secure this significant stake in the UK gas distribution market
alongside leading financial investors of the calibre of Barings' European
Private Equity Fund and Troika Dialog, the largest private investment company in
the Russian Federation."
The new UK gas distribution group, which has been formed by the merger of
Quantum Energy Group Ltd and units of Finland's Fortum Oyj, will hold
approximately 5 pct of the industrial/commercial gas distribution market serving
smaller and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and multi-site operators in the UK.
Effectively, GNE will acquire a 19.9 pct stake in the enlarged group, which
will be managed as a joint venture between The Baring European Private Equity
Fund, previously the controlling shareholder of Quantum, and GNE and Troika
Dialog.
GNE has also been granted for nominal consideration a call option to acquire
up to a further 40.1 pct of the enlarged group for 4 mln stg.
GNE said it has funded its initial 1 mln stg investment from a 1.4 mln loan
provided by Rodava Management Ltd, a company controlled by GNE's vice chairman
Alisher Usmanov which can later be converted into a stake of 6.7 pct in the
company.

Nearly back up to 3 today on news that Directors have made some small buys. Since the prediction is that in time this country will need to import more and more of its energy then GNE appears to be positioning itself for this event and the share price could easily rise further.
