Any experts on DVR-R, DVD-RW, DVR-RAM

Haystack - 29 May 2003 21:51

I have a Philips DVD recorder and I wondered if there were any experts on the possible types of media that these things use. There are:-

DVD-R
DVD+R
DVD-RW
DVD+RW
DVD-RAM

I think philips is one of those manufacturers that are using the dvd+r format. If you can find a small independent computer media supplier in your area, you can buy bulkpaq and datawrite dvd+r for about 1.50 and RW for 3.00

Yes. It does seem to use DVD+RW. There was a blank one in the box. I have got it set up. The manual is 85 pages long.

as the old saying goes"if all else fails, read the instructions" LOL

having said that does anyone know how to copy CD-G discs?

The real nightmare has turned out to be the sequence of connecting scart cables between TV, Videotape, Sat and DVD. There are two sockets on each and it seems impossible to be able to make them all work to be able to record on tape or DVD from any source. I haven't even tried recording tape to DVD or DVD to tape.
