News Headlines:    U.S. stocks all closed higher Thursday, with the Dow holding above 9,000 for a second consecutive day, despite some bleak economic reports. The Dow and the S&P achieved highs not seen since late last summer and the Nasdaq to its highest level in more than a year. The day's economic reports showed a big jump in unemployment and factory orders slipped which put stocks under pressure from the start.

Watch out toady for the U.S. unemployment figures for May for further signs of recovery, these figures are regarded by many analysts as being pivotal to for future market direction.

Tech stocks may rise after Intel reported stronger demand for its microprocessors.

EasyJet said the number of passengers it carried in May rose 95.9 percent against a year earlier. The airline said it carried 1.8 million passengers during the month. It had a load factor -- the average number of seats sold on flights as a percentage of capacity -- of 83.5 percent in May, up from 82.1 percent last year. These figures were boosted by the acquisition of GO travel so the true rise is more like 20%

Mytravel: reported a 6 month operating loss of 590.9m against the 2002 loss of 150.2m. The summer bookings are down 5% following the war with War in Iraq and uncertainty about the Group's financial position. They good news is they have completed a 1.3 billion refinancing deal signed with Group's bankers. The CEO said " Recent booking trends are generally encouraging, however we cannot yet predict whether this trend will continue or how the peak summer period will unfold"

Glaxosmithkline: said two key members of its remuneration committee had stepped down.

GKN said Japan had selected a helicopter model produced by its AgustaWestland joint venture to be used mainly by its navy for airborne mine counter-measuresBP,Shell could rise after crude oil futures rose back above $30 a barrel
