News Headlines:    The Dow closed in negative territory following news Eastman Kodak would miss its second-quarter earnings estimates. This took more than 10 percent from the stock's value and weighed heavily on the index. The Nasdaq index clung to gains following Oracle's revised bid for PeopleSoft. WPP says it has agreed to acquire ailing advertising rival Cordiant in an all-share deal valuing the firm's share capital at around 10 million pounds. Under the proposal, WPP said it would offer one new WPP share for every 205 Cordiant CRI.L shares. It said it had acquired the majority of Cordiant's debt at par value from all but one
