News Headlines:
U.S. stocks rallied

billion, to its shareholders in the form of a special dividend.
Safeway says its first-quarter sales slipped but profit was flat as it
struggled to keep customers while its future hung in the balance.
Like-for-like sales fell 0.6 percent in the first quarter with total sales
up by 1.1 percent. Safeway said this was a resilient performance. Kidde, fire-fighting equipment, says its order book has grown in the

growth this year. They said "While market conditions continue to be
competitive, cost saving programmes are on track to deliver the anticipated
benefits,"
National Express Group coach and train firm says trading for the six

Well Nikkei got over 10k at the open, big psycholigical #, might hold it for todays session, we shall see, Resistance just above at 10061, it gapped at the open over resistance 9885 would like to see it back under that #, but ultimately it will head up again short term, but you can never tell with Japan as news out of there at times beggars belief. All imo of course.

Hmm, wouldn't you think that after a 2.6% advance yesterday and another 2% near the open today, that there would be a bit of profit taking ,considering we are at 10k on the Nikkei, but speculation that foreigners will step up their buying of Japanese stocks keeping it up, oh the greed of it all :-}. Time to wait and see what the 2nd half of there day brings.

Good afternoon all.
Thanks little woman, will do.
For today the futures looking like they want a little pullback, important initial numbers to hold for the upward momentum to remain intact are, NDX 1270, Dow 9150/20, SPX 995, they hold and away we go again.

its going down for the next few months, posted why i think so on yesterdays thread, i'm not a perma-bear, have always been quite happy to go long when the opportunity is there.

you sound like my double! :)
i dont think this bear market is done yet but not a perma-bear. I also think its going down for the next few months and am short SPX 1005. i much prefer longs to shorts.
Do you follow sentiment in any way?
Da Bear

yes i do, they are heavily on the bullish side, analysts at least, i'll be on the look out for the Put/Call numbers to give me a top signal especially on the QQQ and OEX, at the moment the Qs seem too bearish, probably means a bit more upside ahead yet.

The techs have way outperformed the blues for a while. seems like most people have missed the fact and yet they are still trying to sell techs. Its not inconceivable that the blues could fail while the techs stay flat or take minimum damage perhaps.
Pretty much everything that i watch is calling for a top at the moment, even the price momentum stuff is turning over.
its been a pleasure talking, bed for me now.(the missues wants her feet rubbed) :)
regards and GL
Fred
