Have been looking at Level 2 data and am a bit confused. All the Buy orders are at the bid level price of the share. All the SELL orders are at the offer level or above. Can someone explain. Also is the 3 or 4 letter acronym beside each order the institution wanting to buy or sell?
Thank you
Rupan

Buy Quotes column: Shows the prices that the Market Makers are prepared to buy stock from you at. In other words a price that they will give you when you wish to sell your stock eg: NMRA (the market maker) who will buy from you a quantity of stock up to the size stated at this price.
Sell Quotes column: This shows the prices that the Market Makers are prepared to sell stock to you at. In other words a price that you will have to pay when you to buy this stock.
The yellow strip shows how many market makers quoting the best price, the size they will trade at and the best price.
