Conspiracy theories abound with the power cuts in New York and now London combined with the rise in Gold.  The best one I had heard today was that yesterdays black out in London was engineered  to divert attention from Tony Blair during the Hutton Inquiry!  Now this has been followed by the shock resignation statement  by Alastair Campbell.  This political turmoil combined with the continued loss of soldiers lives in Iraq. leaves the government in a sorry state.  Another soldier was killed today which brings to 65, the number of soldiers killed in attacks since George Bush declared major combat operation over on 1 May.

Little woman is poster of the week and wins the Banks bitter award for all her excellent postings on the Investors & Traders room. She also arranged the most enjoyable Southern traders evening on Wednesday which was very well supported and I am sure will be the first of many.  Just hope she likes bitter! 

Well its September the 1st on Monday so volumes on the markets should start to return to normal.
