DOW JONES @ LIVECHARTS

ThePlayboy - 09 Sep 2003 07:10 - 2 of 2279

Updated 9/8 for Tuesday's market.
Key DOW Levels for 9/9
UP Above 9,610
DN Below 9,550

Consolidating
Dow rallies, forms tight consolidation at highs.

From prior commentary, "...The Dow has formed a short term trend line above the highs of today's move, as seen in the 15 Minute Chart. An upside break of the line at 9,525 will likely spark further upside movement..."
The Dow got the upside break of the upper trend line early in the session today, and rallied sharply the first 30 minutes of trading, as seen in the 15 Minute Chart. The rest of the session traded sideways at the highs within the boundaries of a tight consolidation.

The fact that the index has formed a consolidation at the highs, and consolidations at highs typically lead to upside breaks. An upside break from the consolidation and through resistance at 9,610 will likely spark another solid move higher within the current medium term upmove.
However, the consolidation has formed just beneath the key resistance level of 9,610, seen in the 15 Minute Chart. A downside break from the consolidation at 9,560 will likely push the Dow back down toward the recent 9,460 support level.

Short Term Dow

Short term, we will watch the tight consolidation that has formed from 9,560 to 9,600, seen in the 5 Minute Chart. A break from this range will likely be solid tomorrow morning.

Medium Term Dow

In the medium term, we covered Shorts this morning at 9,532 (4 point loss on prior position). We later entered Long at 9,582, but were subsequently stopped out on the pull-back. No other trades were triggered and we are now out of the market. Watch 9,610 up, and 9,550 down, with 10 point stops.

NASDAQ & S&P

The NASDAQ and S&P each mirrored the Dow today, as the indices rallied at the open, followed by consolidations to the Close. Watch the consolidation boundaries for a break tomorrow. *

Summary

The Dow gained 83 points in today's session, finishing the day within the boundaries of a tight consolidation at the highs, below resistance. An upside break through 9,610 will likely extend the current upmove within the uptrend, while a downside break at 9,560 will tend to push the index back down toward support at 9,460.

snoball - 15 Sep 2003 10:28 - 6 of 2279

The Dow is currently in a bullish trend over the medium to long term.
A break below 9219 will indicate the Dow to be short.
A break above 9609 will show the trend to be continuing.
9414 is the mid point between the two.

I've absolutely no idea what it is likely to do today.

I'm not trading the Dow at the moment because of its
low volatility.

Do you reckon the dow is going to hit 9800? I reckon it will go southwards to about 9350 and below. Also any news on hurricane isabel to hit north carolina. If it does then Insurance sector in trouble as usual. Funny that insurance collect premiums superfast and moan when time comes to pay!!!!
