The robot picked TRK and it is down 10%. In the trading update on the web site I said that I thought TRK would not be up right away (mark time I think I actually said). The trouble is that the software picked it again. I just post the software choices and don't always agree with it. I can't remember why I dismissed JVH now. It may have been to do with the intra day chart for yesterday, it may have dropped towards the end. By the way JVH is now down 1.3%.
The premise behind the choices is that they are for short term trading. I keep an number of the choices going back a while in stockwatch lists and look at them again each day. I have fouind via the software that once a stock rises that I have selected then the optimum period seems to be 3 days to keep the stock before selling. This is not always true of course, but at around 3 days it is better to beware of a suden drop.
I have some newer versions of the software being tested. The other day one version picked 20 stocks and only one was down. Unfortunately I overwrite the version as I was originally looking at the wrong set of results and it looked like it hadn't worked very well. I am trying to work out what the difference was with that version. I should document the versions and their success, but I am testing about 50 a day.

The ones that I slect out of the rest each day are my choices. I tend to pick the ones with the smallest spread, the ones with a good volume of shares traded that day as this adds to the reliability of any movement, the ones with the best intra day chart with little retracement and movement up towards the end. I also look at the overall chart on sharescope recently and over a couple of years and some technical indicators. I look at the volatility of the stock and if it is in an overall uptrend. I then pick the best iof the bunch according to these criteria plus my own knowledge of the stocks. Other people may know the particular stocks better than me though and pick different choices.

SPT was a nice choice for yesterday. I said on the trading update that I wished that I had bought it as it looked very good and there it is again up 11.9% today. I like ARE also of today's picks. I wouldn't be suprised to see it up for a few days. I wish it had a smaller spread though.
