easty - 04 Nov 2003 13:29

Could someone please get back to me on this one please...how would investors be able to get involved at a floatation stage instead of the first days dealings???
and when in the near future can we see this happen??
many thanks
Easty

easty,

That depends on whether it's a 'placing', which involves shares being placed wih finacial insitutions, or an 'offer', which allows private investors to contact the broker concerned, and purchase the shares.

There seem to be far more placings than offers these days, which ensures the city receives it's fees when the shares are sold to the sheeple on the first day of trading, (thus ensuring an easy profit for the institutions!)and Gordon Brown receives his stamp duty.

I normally wait a few days and the shares often fall back after the initial excitement is over.
