There is no need for a spread as big as,in the in the case today of,Coffeeheaven.
Volume 22m, more than almost any other share traded. This is just sheer greed by MMs,they seem to forget that if people stopped trading, they would have a big % of nothing.
It doesn't do companies any favours either.Companies who need the money. I know myself that, I don't buy shares in certain companies, that I might invest in, because of the wide spreads. I'm sure this applies to a lot of investors.

roma - Innovative thread. Totally agree with your sentiments. The plus side for everybody would be more people would be prepared to invest more into the stock market. I am regularly put off buying into shares which I rate purely because the spreads are very wide and I simply do not think it is viable. Surely a spread of 5% should be about the maximum, I have seen spreads of 20-30% recently which to be honest is a disgrace.

Glad to see they have reduced the spread by about 3%. Not a great deal but a move in the right direction.
