Potential for Stock of the year.... (TFC)

zchavq8 - 24 Jan 2004 00:36

Trafficmaster, trafficmaster, trafficmaster, thats the share if you wanna make sum . Been trading it for years, since 1999, and except for the slump between March 2000 to March 2003, its been a hot stock.

Even at 1.01, its still cheap to buy, its the type of stock thats sluggish for a few days, followed by a steep rise... its a strange cycle which can net u .

My tip for 2004 !!!!!!!!!!!

porky - 24 Jan 2004 13:24 - 2 of 20

How did you arrive at this conclusion.
Let`s have some figures to back it up.
Cheers.

snowballroller - 24 Jan 2004 19:53 - 3 of 20

I put this stock in my 2001 ISA account at 300p level. you know what happened to it since !!!!

Seymour Clearly - 24 Jan 2004 23:57 - 4 of 20

The last lot of results were good and the company does seem to be concentrating on the profitable aspects of its business. I bought at around 45p when the last results were announced and was astonished to see them go down. However am now smiling and still holding. But as ever dyor.

sbr :-( I have a few like that. Just sold thus that I have held since 8. That's a loss of 7.67 on each share. Won't tell you how many. But I have sold many more at small losses in the tech crash which would have just about wiped me out if I'd held.

zchavq8 - 27 Jan 2004 15:47 - 5 of 20

Just bought at 95p....lets see what happens!

driver - 29 Jan 2004 14:41 - 6 of 20

Trafficmaster Latest deal
Trafficmaster PLC said it will supply its satellite
navigation and traffic information system Smartnav to all Europcar''s new
Mercedes Benz UK rental cars and 300 vehicles used to take Virgin Atlantic Upper
Class airline passengers to and from UK airports.

Europcar currently takes about 1,400 Mercedes Benz cars per annum onto their
fleet and each will be installed with Smartnav as standard.

No value was put on the deal, but a spokesman said Smartnav are sold for
approximately 500 stg each.

David Martell, chief executive of Trafficmaster, said Smartnav has been
""widely accepted"" by motorists.

""These two deals, with strong brand names Virgin Atlantic and Europcar,
emphasise the attractiveness of Smartnav to sophisticated business customers,""
he said.

Keep Buying (Driver)

Stock of the year?????

This was stock of last year, was about 8p in March 03.

I doubt it can do it all over again but there may be more to come.

waz_winn - 06 Feb 2004 05:18 - 11 of 20

Watch it ccrash down....overpriced and overhyped. look for real support around 70p. VOD is the baby

samon - 10 Mar 2004 15:50 - 12 of 20

WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW. WHO KNOWS ? ANYONE?

neilpos - 30 Mar 2004 16:52 - 13 of 20

What is happening indeed?
TFC now at 59.5p & takeover target Yeoman at 7.25p. At time of offer TFC was approx. 85p & Yeoman 10p. Offer was equivalent to 9.5p per share!!!
Are the wheels coming off the wagon?

neilpos - 30 Mar 2004 17:00 - 14 of 20

Not in this by the way - felt far too 'overhyped' - but what do people think now?

Scripophilist - 30 Mar 2004 21:01 - 15 of 20

Still a lot to do to justify the mkt cap.

Mr Euro - 30 Mar 2004 21:12 - 16 of 20

Hi Peter,

Just love this quote:

"Been trading it for years, since 1999, and except for the slump between March 2000 to March 2003, its been a hot stock"

:-)

driver - 02 Apr 2004 17:26 - 17 of 20

I did have high hopes for this stock my target was 3 I got out on the way down at 85p using the 20% rule, the problem wasnt just there last results, Turnover 30m (500k profit) it was what was said by TFC that they was on course to sell 28000 units for 2004, at best 1m profit for 2004 in total, that is less than TOA who already have a turnover of 34m 1.6 profit and more to come there M/Cap 15m not 95m as for TFC, TOA share price is 20p
My new target for TFC is 15 to 25p even with very hyped new deals that they may or may not be announced.

Trafficmaster Helped Out of a Jam

Problems with its Smartnav car navigation
system dogged Trafficmaster (TFC) in 2005
but Ford has now given the product a vote of
confidence by announcing a week-long promotional
giveway of the system to all drivers who test drive and
then order a Ford Fiesta or Ford Focus ST.
In December, Shares suggested Trafficmasters
relegation from the FTSE All Share index could
provide a buying opportunity as index trackers
dumped the stock and, sure enough, the shares
troughed at 25.1p shortly after their demotion. But
they have bounced back nicely since.
Non-executive chairman Colin Walsh purchased
100,000 shares at 26p just before Christmas to double
his stake, and his confidence looks well founded.
Trafficmaster has since announced it is to supply
mobile navigation specialist Wayfinder with realtime
traffic information.
The Ford deal, which is being supported by a
high-profile advertising campaign, suggests that
Smartnav is competitive in the standard-fit
market, though portable solutions such as
TomTom still dominate the retail channel.
Trafficmasters balance sheet is net cash so it
can easily sustain its current losses as it sorts out
Smartnav.
A proliferation of road-charging schemes would
be a boost, too: Trafficmasters two-way
communication technology has a clear edge over
portable units as they cannot be used for pay-asyou-
drive schemes.
Shares says: The shares have already
suffered and if relegation from the All
Share pushes them down further,
Trafficmaster would look interesting at just
11 times 2006 earnings
