Problems with comdirect

Madison - 10 Dec 2004 09:43

Has anyone else been having problems with the comdirect site over the last few days?

I am unable to read messages (contract notes, dividends etc.) and now I find I can't transfer money out.

Their response has been that there is an issue with Service Pack 2, but I've had that in and operating successfully ever since it came out. Their next idea is to try a new browser, which I don't think is a very satisfactory respone.

Would just like to know whether others are having difficulties too.

Thanks, Madison.

Yes I have Madison. Other sites have been affected not just comdirect. I down-loaded a new browser "opera.com" as advised by comdirect and it does work. It has taken me a while to get into this browser but it has sorted out all off my problems with Service Pack 2. I have booked marked all my favourite sites in Opera and they all work fine. Hope you get sorted out now.

P.S any good tips on shares (apart from they can go down as well as up)

Thanks Barry. What I don't understand is why Service Pack 2 should be labelled as the culprit. It's been working fine for me: contract notes, dividends, money transfers all no problem. Then suddenly three (?) days ago everything goes wrong.

Seems to me the issue is with changes made on the comdirect site, and I'd welcome comments from other comdirect users.

As for share tips I don't consider myself experienced enough to advise others, but I did post on UCM group recently, wondering whether it had hit the bottom of its dip and seeking others' opinions. (Very good dividend incidentally)However I didn't get any response! Since then I note it has risen.

Cheers, Madison.

Buy an Applemac machine, you just do not get problems of this sort with the apple operating system.
I would not go back to a Windows machine.
Cheers.

Thanks Fred1new

Still like to hear if any other XP users are having similar difficulties with comdirect.

Madison.

I have had no problems - use Windows XP, had installed Windows Service Pack 2 but have since installed Norton Internet Security. Usually find comdirect very helpful!

I read very early in the SErvice Pack 2 release that Comdirect said they would have a problem. I have yet to install Service Pack 2. As ever, Microsoft cock up more than they fix.

On the flip side, I do think that Comdirect have had planty of time to upgrade/update their site/system so it works with the Microsoft update. They need to get their bloody finger out IMO!

Al - The odd thing is that comdirect had a warning up in red writing about problems with Service Pack 2 compatability but that warning no longer appears on their home page!
