St. Patrick's day has gone to my head! One Bushmills too many!!!
I know, I know, Ive heard it all before, football stocks only for the true & genuine fans!
Today I fancied a gamble on the turnaround in fortunes of once struggling Millwall F.C.
Millwall last night booked their place in a lucrative FA Cup semi final at Old Trafford against Sunderland FC, and the chance to go to Cardiff for an FA Cup final and guaranteed UEFA Cup Football next season.
On top of this Millwall's playing revolution under Dennis Wise & Ray Wilkins has taken the club into the play-off positions for a possible place in the Premiership & all the associated increased revenue that would go with that.
All ifs & buts, but a few definitely maybe's. Football is a funny old game, and this stock is not for widows & orphans as they say.
Take a look tho! It can't do any harm to look?

All moving averages have turned positive, and if the team makes the play-offs extra revenue will be generated on top of the cup semi final.
Premiership football can mean an extra 20million in revenue, not to mention what a UEFA Cup place would mean.
This is a TOTAL gamble on the fortunes of the football team, but the way the FA Cup has managed to pair 2 first division teams in one semi and Arsenal and Man Utd in the other, guarantees UEFA Cup football to either Millwall or Sunderland FC.
I'm not for one minute trying to ramp this one. I simply had to tell someone of my madness!
This is a tiddly tiddler, but I'm going to play with it for a while!
You can get 500,000 of these for just over a grand.

I think it is very sane.Your downside is minimal.

Thanks Ajren, you have rescued me from ridicule, and you're absolutely right the downside from here when you look at a 3year chart is minimal.
There is always the potential for some sort of capital re-organisation/consolidation to give the share a more tradeable price, but the spreads seem very tight even down at these levels.
I tend to hold the majority of my portfolio in FTSE 350 stocks, so shares such as these give me some excitement.
I think you have to have that mix, if you want to both preserve capital and have the potential to make serious gains in wealth.
Good FTSE 250 growth stocks, good FTSE 100 divi payers, and a few micro-cap penny shares with the potential to double/treble.
All IMHO. It works for me.

Over 115million shares traded today, just under 300,000 pounds worth.
Looks like I'm not the only one looking at this stock now.

Well played batty hill!
I'm in this one for a bit of fun, and if Millwall make a little bit of history for themselves in the process good luck to them!

Got to be interested in this if you are a gambler. It all boils down to '90 minutes' of football to get to the cup final and a 1m price money for being runners up with added bonus of playing in Europe. There is also still a chance to get to the play-offs and the premeirship (bonus of 20million.) Got to be worth a couple of hundred quit just for a punt.
Interesting, looking at the volume of shares traded since 27 Feb it goes like this.
total buy total sell average price
27Feb 1.2m 10.3m 0.14p
1Mar 0.3m 73.1m 0.15p
2mar 1.2m 80.1m 0.15p
3mar 0 23.8m 0.15p
4mar 0.5m 12.4m 0.15p
5mar 0.3m 82.1m 0.17p
8mar 1.4m 33.7m 0.17p
9mar 2.2m 59.3m 0.18p
10mar 0.7m 33.2m 0.18p
11mar 0.9m 47.6m 0.18p
12mar 1.4m 10.6m 0.18p
15mar 6.2m 76.9m 0.19p
16mar 1.6m 96m 0.19p
17mar 10.7m 93.4m 0.23p
Seem to be going the same today. Share price steady and rising with large sells
Is there somebody buying up shares in the club? Or what?

slmchow,
It is one for the gamblers among us. Interestingly though, if you look at the last set of results and in particular the Chairman's remarks, it gives some kind of a flavour of his fiscal prudence.
It would appear his business sense is untouched by football emotion, and perhaps a determination exists to turn the business side around. Player sales would occur before the club would be allowed to plunge into major debt.
Millwall will never be the Man Utd of the south, but a more successful, well managed team will bring in more supporters, and the Cup run will also bring people back.
Barcelona at the New Den in the Uefa Cup next season eh????

I would not call it a gamble.
I always buy shares as a well calculated risk.No one - in theory, and often in
practice - is against us.Gambling means the odds are stacked against us from the
start e.g.; bookmakers,casinos.
Buying Millwall is an extremely intelligent, finely calculated risk as the
downside is negligible and the upside huge.

From acharting point of view, rising 50 day movinga average crossed rising 200day at start of March giving a strong buy signal.
It remains to be seen how much steam this can pick up in the run in to the FA Cup semi in a couple of weeks.

Apprently Millwall will make about 2m by being in the semi-final.
30000 tkts @ average price 40 = 1.2m.
semi-final fees and Sky TV money should make it up to 2m.

There has certainly been a sharp re-rating of the companys chances, as the chart shows.
Next fortnight will be very interesting, particularly if the form of the cup run pushes the club further up Division 1 into play-offs.
The extra televised play-offs would also provide a few quid??
