No streaming with norton internet security

utilisada - 07 Jul 2004 10:39

I have recently upgraded my norton and now I cannot get the streaming to work without disabling the security - Can anyone offer any assistance??

IanT(MoneyAM) - 07 Jul 2004 10:48 - 2 of 49

utilisada,

There could be a number of parts of the Norton which are stopping you from accessing streaming. You need to check to see nwhether you have java set to enabled within the firewall. You may also need to enable active x in the same area.

You may also need to adjust ad blocking to off when you first enter Norton - please let me know how you get on.

Ian,

Thanks for the reply - no problems with java or active x in firewall - both allowed and enabled.

Ad blocking makes no difference - on or off

utilisada,

Could you try this by disabling productivity control.

Ian

utilisada - 07 Jul 2004 13:22 - 5 of 49

Sorry Ian but what is 'productivity control'?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 07 Jul 2004 13:24 - 6 of 49

if you pull up Norton, you will see a section labeled productivity control. if you double click on this you will be able to turn it off and view what it is for.

Ian,

I have norton 2004 - there is no section I can find labelled 'productivity control' - I have looked in help + no mention there either

Can you send me a screenshot of the Norton when you have it open and I will then advise you from there.

Watching this one with interest Ian as I still have my streaming data problems using Norton Internet Security 2004. I have changed a few settings (can't remember what and am at work so will update post when I get home 8pm ish) and sometimes it's okay for an hour or so before it stops streaming and I have to disable to get streaming again.

Utilisada,

I will E mail you with a few suggestions.

I have installed this software onto my pc and all is streaming fine, but I am trying to break the settings to see what stops it from working.

I will contact you when I have the answer.

Are you all sure it is Norton causing the problem?

It may be no Java installed.

You will know if you have insalled it or not.

I have heard Norton 2004 is a bit more problematical than the 2003 version, a reason why I bought subscription for 2003 rather than an upgrade.

Read the reviews on amazon.co.uk search word norton to compare the 2.

seawalker,

It sounds like they are actually experiencing problems with Norton as a pose to the Java Plugin. However, it would not hurst for any of you to upgrade to the latest Java VM by downloading it from this link.

Prodman - thanks for the suggestion but this doesn't work either.

Seawalker - have downloaded newest java plug-in - still doesn't stream.

More suggestions welcome as I am missing all the news on my energy technique shares !!!!!!!!!!!!! - I do like to see my money grow!!

Canyou all take a look at this,

Click on Privacy control then click on advanced can you then set the following to permit:

information about your browser
animated images
scripts
Flash animation

These are how mine are set. Let me know if there is a difference and I will take it from there.

Ian

utilisada - 07 Jul 2004 14:52 - 19 of 49

Ian - all mine are already set on permit

IanT(MoneyAM) - 07 Jul 2004 14:59 - 20 of 49

Ok,

I will work on a few other settings and then report back here. The only one which has effected my streaming so far is the Java being disabled, but you already have that set. I will get back to you.

Guys,

Can you click on tools at the top left of your browser and then click on where it says sun Java console. When this brings up a box can you please copy this into an E mail to me and I will get JT to take a look to see if this gives an idea of what is causing this.
