After yesterday's lack of action, there should be a bit more going on today.
Amongst the companies reporting interims, Hunting are expected to come up with improved numbers. Maybe not the volatility here that traders look for, but a good steady stock as a rule.
Cattles, the pawnbroker extraordinary, has had a bad time of it lately with credit so easy to find in the traditional banking sector at the moment. I don't expect too much good news here.
Last night Invensys closed 0.50p off the pace after trading an amazing 71 million shares. Q1 results today will be scrutinised for any signs that trading has turned the corner, although in light of an unremarkable bearish AGM statement late last month, don't hold out much hope. Invensys is expected to make an operating profit 15m. If it is anything less then stand clear of the doors - there could be 71 millions shares trying to escape at the same time. :-)
Ladbroke owner, Hilton Group, also reports today. Brokers recently upgraded to whole gambling sector which helped both Hilton and William Hill to improve. Could be good - it will be interesting to see how online gambling figures stack up.
Finally, maybe we ought to point out to Scripophilist that the lottery Powerball jackpot has now hit 28m. A small slice of that would make up for my woeful trading bigtime.
Have a great day!

Morning all
I would expect the bid for Rooney will be seen as good news as long as they dont pay more than 20-22m - Everton claim to be holding out for 30m.

Afternoon all.
FTSE took out the last swing high this morning, so theoretically
I should be looking for an entry point for a long back towards
the top of the range.
I don't like the way that it just squeaked it on a gap open on
what looked like to me was a US short covering rally. It didn't
trade its way above it.
US hasn't taken out the last swing highs, yet.
So for me, the jury is still out. I'll take longs if the US
trades strongly through the last highs on good volume.
Meanwhile, just the usual small, intraday, blue chip scalps.
Melnibone.
