ADVFN EAT MY HAMSTERS POO

moonblue - 22 Aug 2004 13:36

This thread from MedVed QT BB is a good read. Its all about ADVN refusing to allow their data to be used on MedVed QT.

Simple - Not Invented Here syndrome. Their excuse is that you are not seeing ads that they place on the pages. Fine - we said that if they cooperate, we can restrict to paid accounts only and show their ads. They said no.

We told them (face to face at the Las Vegas Traders Expo) "But thats what your users want - advanced chartsing, quotes, etc".

At this point, the guy was frothing at the mouth (literally) and yelled "We don't care what the users want"

Thats just an example of what we are dealing with here. Their protocol for the quotes is archaic. We talked to one of their competitors (MoneyAM) and got cooperation. No Problem. Their quotes work far smoother:

I think the amazing thing about this is that ADVFN never stopped Quotetracker long ago. You could always get streaming prices and never get timed out on ADVFN portfolios without having to pay for it, by using Quotetracker. I wonder if MoneyAM have realised this.

MoneyAM is excellent so why use ADVFN ?
