On the face of it there is not too much going on today but, with the Dow storming ahead last night, it could get things off to a flying start.
Talking of flying, BA are cancelling flights ahead of the hurricane about to hit Florida so there will doubtless be pics of queues at Heathrow again.
Interims today from Marshalls, the building materials group. In view of the great figures put out by builders recently, they could make reasonable reading.
Rank Group also report interims and will be compared with the recent good numbers from the likes of Hilton which may drag them down even further. Expect results to come in way down on last year.
Go-Ahead publish finals today. Analysts expect up to 50% improvement in profit so it will be interesting to see just where the improvement has been made.
Finals too from JD Wetherspoon. If they are anything like as gloomy as Whitbread and Diageo were yesterday, then it will give them a big hit. Profits are generally expected to be down but the question is, "by how much?"
