Well, the double whammy I talked about last night has happened. The Dow closed under 10,000 (first time in 5 weeks) and in Asia this morning Crude futures were trading at $50.18 a barrel. What a fun day this is going to be . ;-) G.

Maybe we should follow Maggot's lead and go fishing....

This big news could overshadow a lot of the UK corporate news today.

There are quite a number of companies reporting results today but none that is likely to cause a storm. Clinton Cards in expected to come in flat. MSB Int'l is expected to come out with pretax profits slightly ahead but that is probably already factored in and all eyes will be on the future. Dana Petroleum might have a surprise for us.

Trading Statements might provide more fun with Northern Foods and Virgin Mobile both coming out with updates. Sector watchers will be taking note, no doubt.

The P&O Ferries ops review is due out today too but will probably be a damp squib.
