Traders Thread - Wednesday 6th October (TRAD)

Greystone - 06 Oct 2004 05:40

Greystone - 06 Oct 2004 05:43 - 2 of 21

Good morning Traders!

Not a lot going on today in the reporting field. Neither Austin Reed or Ted Baker seem very inspiring.

* Austin Reed PLC. The company has forecast a first-half pretax loss before exceptionals of 2.5-3 mln stg vs profit 1.1 mln.

* Ted Baker PLC. Analysts forecast a 28 weeks to Aug 13 pretax profit of about 5.1 mln stg vs 4.6 mln.

On top of their slush fund woes, BAE have been downgraded by DKW.

The BoE begin their deliberations on UK interest rates today. I suspect that will ensure it is a quiet day. Most everyone expects rates to stay the same this month but there is always that element of doubt....

Happy trading!

G.

TOKYO (AFX) - An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale rocked Tokyo
and the Kanto region of Japan Wednesday night, local media said quoting the
meteorological agency.
There were no reports of damage or injury, Kyodo news agency said, although
train services in the capital were temporarily halted following the tremor.
The meteorological agency did not issue any warning for tsunami waves which
sometimes follow earthquakes, Kyodo said.

Very interesting article I picked up on the internet. It will be very interesting when the American Non-Farm numbers are released on Friday. IMHO, the US market will fall and UK will follow. Watch this space.

Other views please.
