Traders Thread - Wednesday 13th October (TRAD)

Greystone - 13 Oct 2004 06:08

Greystone - 13 Oct 2004 06:09 - 2 of 11

Good morning traders!

Wall Street rallied a little last night to limit losses. DJIA down just 4.79 at 10,077.18. Asian markets negative but mostly on profit-taking. Oil marked down below $53 a barrel.

Another sparse day for reporting.

JJB's interims will not make pleasant reading, I fear, but there could be some meat on the bid chatter I suppose.

AGM at little Eircom should give them the opportunity for a bit of a trading update. "Little fish are sweet", so they say. :-)

Trading updates from Big Food Group and Burberry don't sound too exciting but we might find out a bit more about plans for Iceland.

More when I catch up with the morning news.

Happy trading!

G.

MARKET EXPECTATIONS

LA Fitness. Baird Equities forecasts year to July adjusted pretax profit 8.7m vs 7.2m

JJB Sports six months to July pretax profit before exceptionals and goodwill 29m stg vs 36.2m

Greystone - 13 Oct 2004 07:06 - 4 of 11

JJB Sports has concluded that the approach is unlikely to lead to an offer that would reflect the fair value of the Company. Accordingly, discussions with the potential offeror have terminated.

Big bounce coming........ ;-)

Morning all,

Did anyone short JJB?

Greystone - 13 Oct 2004 09:21 - 7 of 11

LW - Didn't expect such a big fall, I must admit. Just means the bounce will be bigger when the dust finally settles. Watching and waiting.;-)

Greystone - bounce? or perhaps a "dead cat bounce"!

seawallwalker - 13 Oct 2004 14:45 - 10 of 11

Greystone, could be worse, you could have also longed WLF last Friday.

;-))

Greystone - 13 Oct 2004 16:01 - 11 of 11

Still some long WLF hoping for a kick up to 105p or so... ;-)

I'll get the hang of it eventually. :-)
