Mid-States - Luke Johnson bidding? (MST)

bottom line - 25 Nov 2004 08:20

nice little cash shell

Strong rumour that Gary Ashworth (Abacus Recruitment) and Luke Johnson(Pizza Express etc) are looking at reversing Interquest - their new recruitment company into Mid-States - loose talk suggests anything up to 55p , maybe a bit far fetched but could it double?

Up a couple of pence the last few days on these rumours

bottom line

Nice one - it's one of my holdings from quite a while ago and I've been topping up recently on the grounds that there is not much to lose and loads to gain.

A total Cash Shell with a commitment to returning cash to shareholders if they can't find a suitable company to acquire or reverse in to them. They've set themselves until the end of the year to do a deal.

Cash in the bank is worth about 14.5p so not a lot of downside if things don't come off.

I remember Gary Ashworth from his days at Abacus. He took it from about 16p to a sell off to Carlisle Holdings at about 2.50. Voted AIM Chairman of the year around about 1997/8.

I thought he was dabbling again and it would make loadsa sense for him to get back into the market through a reverse take over - crafty bugger.

Looking at the interquest site they seem to have been buying up undervalued companies - I know for a fact that they got SBS for a song - because I was holding them when Interquest bought them for a couple of million when their annual turnover was about 10-15m - nice bargain if you can get it.

Must admit, the combination of Gary Ashworth's track record in the recruitment industry and Luke Johnson's deal making are pretty awesome.

If this is the deal then I'll be a very happy bunny - 'cos they'll fly when news gets out.

It's very lightly traded so even small buys seem to be shifting the price - and the MMs are VERY short of stock - no wonder, it's been practically dormant for a couple of years.

Don't see why it should stop at 55p - what about 1.00 by Xmas. The City loves these guys.

Is that a not so subtle ramp MG - hope it makes 1, because I can have my CSA money then

chocolat - 25 Nov 2004 15:36 - 4 of 96

And then maybe I'll get the video postal order out of you, maggie.

mg - 25 Nov 2004 16:26 - 5 of 96

maggie
You know me - in like Flynn - what's subtle ?

Martini - 25 Nov 2004 17:12 - 6 of 96

You wouldn't find me getting sucked into such an obvious ramp as this.
Heyho :)

chocolat - 25 Nov 2004 21:40 - 7 of 96

You've got to hand it to mg though - if he can't get a pound for his share, how else will he get to Poundstretchers in time to buy maggie a Christmas pressie?

mg - 25 Nov 2004 22:25 - 8 of 96

It's hopeless, you do your own research - in response to someone raising an interesting prospect and all you get is criticism.

Mark my words - you'll eat yours !!!

Ok then, ISS - ramp away :)

PS See you in the coffee intervals

chocolat - 26 Nov 2004 10:01 - 10 of 96

If I use this as a practice thread - can you give me marks, mg?

mg - 26 Nov 2004 10:03 - 11 of 96

Whereabouts do you want them - visible or discreet - temporary or permanent??

chocolat - 26 Nov 2004 10:08 - 12 of 96

Oooer..
permanent discretion may be called for here.

chocolat - 26 Nov 2004 10:17 - 13 of 96

How about...

mg - 26 Nov 2004 10:20 - 14 of 96

Not bad - check out Big Dil, Al and Hilary's threads - they are masters of "the dark art".

Me, I just tell it how it is - I'm a simple kinda guy who just invests in dead certs ;)

chocolat - 26 Nov 2004 10:22 - 15 of 96

Is that as in certifiably dead?

mg - 26 Nov 2004 10:33 - 16 of 96

Huh!

Now you've got the hang of deramping you should try and turn your hand to the endless possibilities associated with ramping.

No derampers allowed on this thread - or I'll report you to Mr DellBoy - or whatever his name is.

chocolat - 26 Nov 2004 10:55 - 17 of 96

But the gorgeous Dil only jumps on rampers - so what've you got on him then?

mg - 26 Nov 2004 10:58 - 18 of 96

My Grandad was Welsh - but don't tell anyone !!

chocolat - 26 Nov 2004 11:34 - 19 of 96

Well ... at the risk of a whipping from Dil's extra-thick lash mascara wand then..
