In the US tonight, stocks finished broadly lower with blue chips pressured by losses in McDonald's and the broader market hit by technology weakness after Texas Instruments put out a disappointing outlook.
The major indexes all finished near session lows as losses accelerated in the final hour of trade.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 24.24 points to close at 10,912.62 while the Nasdaq Composite lost 16.66 points at 2,073.55 and the S&P500 dipped 5.88 points to 1,219.43.
In Asia this morning, the Nikkei shrugged off the poor Dow performance to close higher for the ninth time in the past 10 trading days on expectations that the economy, which shrank the past three quarters, is poised to begin growing again. It finished up 79.78 points at 11,966.69, the highest finish since last April.
Remember there is a long list of XDs today - don't let it catch you out.
Losses at McDonald's - just as well I took my profit on my McDonald shares a couple of months a go. Moved the money into CocaCola which is now up $2.50 on my purchase price - not going to make me fortune, but moving in the right direction!
