Traders Thread - Tuesday 26th April (TRAD)

Greystone - 25 Apr 2005 21:21

Greystone - 25 Apr 2005 21:22 - 2 of 11

Hello traders!

US stocks closed higher though off their best levels, buoyed by positive data and a dip in the price of crude.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended up 84 points at 10,242. The Nasdaq Composite gained 18 points to 1,950, while the S&P500 was up 10 points at 1,162.

Let's hope that gives London a shot in the arm tomorrow after what was a very slow day with low volumes and little news.

See you in the morning....

G.

Greystone - 26 Apr 2005 05:52 - 3 of 11

Good morning traders!

Not much to report yet. Asian markets are mixed with Hong Kong ahead and Tokyo down. The price of crude has eased slightly after encouraging words from Saudi Arabia.

Rio Tinto is reportedly considering a partnership with Malaysian construction and financial services group, Cahya Mata Sarawak, to construct a $2bn aluminium smelter on the island of Borneo...

BP is expected to reveal robust earnings in Q1. Analysts are forecasting net profit before exceptional items of $4.065bn-$5.09bn, or an average of $4.315bn, up 23% from the reported figure of $3.5bn a year earlier.

Back with more as it arrives.....

Happy trading!
