Sunny days are here again (MEA)

hangon - 11 May 2005 13:22

Sorry guys I just don't get this [MEA]business -
- we are on the cusp of World financial collapse and oil running out before the mortgage is paid.
Anyone buying a home in the sun (Spain/Med/elsewhere) has to be able to get there in under a half-day ( otherwise it's holls-only). If you discount air-travel then how will you make it? Rule out car journeys - there won't be enough petrol (soon) for long trips as everyone has to be rationed. Trains - yes - but pricey, it's only the competing coaches that holds fares down.

For this reason I can't see the attraction of such investment, unless it is purely a property buy and will be sold to the natives.
However, rising House-prices is largely a factor of us Brits wanting homes.......and when the oil-price prevents us moving about, we will Stay there - or stay in Blighty...
- the sp says it all. Does anyone know the MEA cash position?

Down another 20% since I wrote on the 11 May, - but who knows?
With the holiday season starting maybe they will pick up.

I guess this is not a company that's popularly invested here.

results on friday according to the iii board

driver - 22 Mar 2007 11:49 - 5 of 7

Bought in today on these results, 3m profit M/Cap only 11m 50p looks on the cards.

HIGHLIGHTS

Record pre-tax profits of 2.9 million (2005: loss of 52,000)
Turnover rose by 55% to 13.3 million (2005: 8.59 million)
Progressive improvement throughout the year
Earnings per share of 2.66p (2005: loss of 0.11p)

Tony Gatehouse, Chairman, commented: 'I am delighted with the progress Medsea
has made in 2006. The investments we made during 2005 to reinforce our
operations in Spain and expand into other territories have helped drive the
Group forward across a broad front and resulted in a substantial increase in
revenues and record profits.

'The Group performed well right across the board but without doubt Italy was the
jewel in the crown last year where we quickly exceeded our initial contract and
continue to perform strongly.

'The current year has started well and our forward bookings are up on last year.
The Board anticipates further organic growth and we believe that there are
opportunities to build on the foundations of our geographic spread. We have set
ourselves demanding targets and look forward to the coming year with optimism.'
