Greystone - 12 Oct 2005 06:13 - 2 of 7

Good morning traders!

In the US the DJIA closed up 14 points at 10,253, but only 12 of its 30 components contributed to that index advance. The Nasdaq closed down 18 points at 2,061 and the S&P500 lost 2 points to 1,185.

In Asia, the Hang Seng ended the morning down 133.37 points at 14,765.40 while the Nikkei was up 57.88 points at 13,614.59 at the halfway stage.

New York's main oil contract, light sweet crude for delivery in November, was up 24 cents at $63.77 a barrel from its close of $63.53 in US trading overnight where it had jumped $1.73.

Early broker notes:

REUTERS UPGRADED TO 'OUTPERFORM', UBM CUT TO 'UNDERPERFORM' AT GOLDMAN
Next downgraded to 'hold' from 'buy' at Investec
BRADFORD & BINGLEY UPGRADED TO 'NEUTRAL' FROM 'UNDERPERFORM'
XSTRATA DOWNGRADED TO 'HOLD' FROM 'BUY' BY DEUTSCHE BANK

Lots of Ex-d's about today to take note of....

Happy trading!
