In the US tonight, stock losses mounted, as a market seen by many as overbought, took a break from a rally that has endured for nearly five weeks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down almost 46 points at 10,810 at its unoffical close. The S&P500 ended down 6.33 points at 1,257.37 and the Nasdaq Composite down 8.75 points at 2,252.01.
In Asia today, the Nikkei closed down 301.3 points at 15,183.36, while the Hang Seng ended the morning session 192.04 points lower at 14,942.91.
Oil prices rebounded in Asian trade on fresh concerns over the outlook for US winter after falling overnight on the back of a rise in US crude stockpiles. New York's main contract, light sweet crude for January delivery, was up 28 cents at $59.49 a barrel from its close of $59.21 in the US where it had lost 73 cents.
