I'm putting this thread up in the hope it might help someone avoid having the frustrating, hair pulling experience I did yesterday afternoon trying to get CMC's spreadbet platform to 'socialise' with Norton security 2006.
OK from my experience I'd suggest the following:
If you have tried to load the platform from the website, got it on your desktop, are able to log into it but find nothing works and you are faced with nothing but 'pings' from the screen and you have spoken to CMC and tried the various fixes they suggest and still aren't getting any progress, get the CD down in the post and load it from there.
This has been the only way I have finally been able to get mine to work.
Having loaded it I rebooted my machine, checked that in Norton the programmes indicated previously by CMC were on 'permit all' access and then accessed the internet before logging in.
I did lower all security defences temporarily (this is very risky so I can't suggest you do this but I did) then I logged into the platform and everything worked!
I did a couple of clicks here and there and then got all the security back up again. Finally some action and not a 'ping' in sight :>)
Since doing this all seems fine :>)
In short - having problems - try loading from the CD!
