Traders Thread - Tuesday 31st January (TRAD)

Greystone - 30 Jan 2006 22:09

Greystone - 30 Jan 2006 22:10 - 2 of 18

Hello traders!

US stocks closed mixed tonight as caution ahead of a Federal Reserve meeting on interest rates kept a lid on things.

The Dow closed down 7.29 points at 10,899, after trading in positive territory for most of the session. The Nasdaq Composite ended up 2.55 points at 2,306.78, while the S&P500 added 1.48 points at 1,285.20.

See you in the morning with the latest.....

Good morning traders!

In Tokyo today, the Nikkei closed up 98.59 points at 16,649.82.

Oil prices fell in late Asian trade as OPEC oil ministers indicated that they will keep current production ceilings at their meeting in Vienna today.

New York's main contract, light sweet crude for March delivery, was down 10 cents at $68.25 a barrel from its close of $68.35 in New York.

Off to find some UK news....

Happy trading!

Morning All,

Good luck with the betting LW, very wise using small amounts to start with I think.

little woman - 31 Jan 2006 11:42 - 11 of 18

Thanks all - this is much easier than dealing CFD's

No charges and I have worked out that I should not be spreadbetting anything "rolling"!

I'm only doing expiry March at the moment - not such good prices, but it does give me time as things move a bit slower!

Andy - 31 Jan 2006 12:39 - 12 of 18

FUM looks tasty today!

Up 10% after a 5% rise yesterday.

Rumours of a large contract win with a major drugs manufacturer apparently, for their over the counter erectile dysfunction cream, the first that can be sold without a prescription.

I think the price will rise and hold up well!

Andy - see what you mean about FUM

little woman - 31 Jan 2006 13:33 - 15 of 18

looks like I went long too early!

little woman - 31 Jan 2006 15:23 - 16 of 18

Looks like I'm just going to sit it out and "wait and see" with the FTSE!

Andy - 31 Jan 2006 16:34 - 17 of 18

LW,

FUM now 13% up!

Big deal due to be signed by mid February, maybe it's coming earlier than that?
