US stocks ended mixed tonight as rising political tensions in the Middle East made for cautious trading, but Alcoa rose to an 11-month high after broker J.P. Morgan said the company's earnings will benefit from surging aluminum prices.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 4 points to an unofficial close of 10,798. The Nasdaq Composite fell 3.73 points to 2,258 while the S&P500 climbed 1 point to 1,265.

In Asia today, the Nikkei closed down 26.77 points at 16,720.99, while the Hang Seng closed the morning down 68.68 points at 15,479.38.
New York's main oil contract, light sweet crude for delivery in March, was down 30 cents at $64.81 a barrel from its close of $65.11 in the US overnight.
