US stocks ended higher tonight as strong earnings from Cisco Systems helped the Nasdaq Composite snap a four-session losing streak, and a rally in Pfizer Inc shares on a possible disposal of its consumer products unit contributed to a triple-digit gain on the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
The Dow industrials ended just off its high for the session, up 108.86 points at 10,858.62. The Nasdaq Composite rose 22.02 points to 2,266.98 while the S&P500 Index climbed 10.87 points to 1,265.65.
In Asia today, the Nikkei closed the day up 166.99 points at 16,439.67, whiloe the Hang Seng ended the morning up 63.19 points at 15,436.63.
Oil prices turned higher in Asian trading with New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in March, up 18 cents at $62.73 a barrel from its close of $62.55 in the US overnight.
