Fundy:
Its always exciting when you take on a new property, whether it's to
live in or 'do-up' - how bigger job have you got on your hands? Only ask
as the term renovation these days tends to span a wide field, from holes in roof
and dry rot, to places structurally sound but needing modernising and the
layout altering to fit modern requirements. Done a bit of the second type
(modernising) myself, a few years ago now - great fun!!
( never give a small woman a sledge hammer, she may have trouble lifting
it initially but after a while stand back, it's sheer mayhem!! LOL)
My day...first day of school hols - so sharing computer time with second
son, that's ok..
Some stocks rising, none yet by enough but its only Monday, plenty of time
yet this week, and been looking into Ebay (I did think it was a good way
to get rid of some of the accumilated bunny-clutter) but having just printed
off 6 (Yes six!) pages of info just on the fees scales, I'm beginning to
wonder if I really want to do this! (lol)

Its a 2 bed terrace just outside manchester (one of the nicer parts), not seen any updating since 1930's - still got an outside loo!!!! Structurally sound except a garage (and loo) to be demolished, needs rewire, replumb, central heating, new floors, replaster, new kitchen, new bathroom and then redecorating - apart from that its in tip top condition lol. Managed to buy it for 30K less than asking price! as vendor had had a sale fall through and was desperate.

You got a good buy there I would say - good on you!
Hopefully no asbestos in the garage - if there's none will you demolish
it yourself? Guess you'll do the re-decoration too?
Love it when you can get hold of an 'original' property, much better then
buying one that a self-styled 'Handy Andy' has owned, at least this way
you know what you're dealing with rather then it looking OK and then
finding out there's bad DIY lurching underneath the surface. As you rightly
say some stuff needs the professionals in - worth it in the long run.

Pretty much spot on. Its still got the original cornicing which i will try to save as well as 4 original fireplaces. Garage is asbestos free so yes that will be a days fun! Will get sparky for the rewire and a plumber for the central heating, will do most of the rest myself.

Tim, I think you should of kept the cat thing to yourself, i know you joke about eating rabbits in the face of our little stockbunny but the cat thing is a little below the belt in relation to Fundies cat. Im sure you did not mean to offend in such this way. We are meant to be all friends here at the cafe. Now shake hands and have a beer together on order of poochy!
Cup of tea please and sorry about my drunken state last night! i'm sure it will happen again.

TIM is OK, I'm sure it was a bad taste joke, and I know about them. Cats are one of those animals you love or hate, like TIM I hate them, though I wouldnt wish them any harm (except when I catch them doing a woopsie in my garden)

Well I'm in 100% agreement with Jeffmack on the cat thing. I'm a dog lover (except for the little rats-on-string!) and can't stand cats. Wouldn't wish any of them any harm though.
Timbo was just voicing his opinion to which he's entitled. May have been a touch insensitive, but was certainly to the point.
Chill.
:o)
Btw, hello again the Real Stormy.

Hi hilary
Some of the old original advfn crowd have set up the 'Bucket Shop' thread over here now.
Cats
Hmmm, they used to mess all over my rear garden and front drive until I discovered Vinegar!
Have had to put up 6ft fences all around rear garden and regularly put vinegar on the top of the fence.
So far for the last few weeks my rear garden and front drive have been cat mess free.
Dog owners have to clean up their pets mess - why can't cat owners too?
