How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Fundy, Baks and Harlosh are using Updata Messenger to chat to each other, hence the lack of posts.

I see Betfair is down yet again today. They are really proving to be most unreliable and quite rubbish actually. I haven't looked at the rules, but surely if the site collapses and you have a matched bet in the market on a short term event (hosses), all such bets should be declared void. Fortunately, I do not have any bets in the market during this latest site failure, but if I had, I would be very very pissed off :-(

Very poor stuff, was having a good day as well. I had started to notice the site getting sticking so I had taken my hand's off a bit.

just switched on planning to trade the cricket
2 days in a row no trading for me because of systme probs now - getting a bit pi**ed off with it
every time they do a supposed upgrade we actually get a downgrade
pth
no, they dont void the bets - wouldnt be fair on those having a bet rather than trading - that said all unmatched bets shopuld be cancelled

Steve, understand what you are saying, but grrrrrrrrr.
They do need to get this unreliabilty issued sorted out. Their customer service is also piss poor; I emailed them over the weekend when the site locked up and the response referred to an issue I hadn't even raised!!
