Anyone can advice me how to stop being bombarded by about 5 e-mails every day from the same company (a none UK company).

I always block from their web sites but they always slightly alter their address so they continually get through.

They are already on my junk list, but I still have to check that list as I do so much research daily if I don't something might just be deleted in error.

I want to uninstall my LEXmark x1150 , because its gone haywire and I want to re install it. but I keep getting a pop up saying there are 4 printing orders waiting please print them before uninstalling. I can't print them that is one of the many problems with it.,its a software problem I think not the machine.

aldwickk, there's loads of info available to download on this subject, but all depends on your operating system, so far too much to post here. It is all to do with spooling it seems.

Surely you can delete/cancel the existing print jobs by hitting Start > Printers & Faxes > (Double click your) Lexmark > Printer > Cancel all documents.

Sometimes, I've found the jobs don't disappear from view until after a restart.

Hi all. Using Win 7 and IE I can't log into Moneyam (I'm posting this via Mozilla). After inputting log-on details my PC spends a long time thinking about it and then come up with this: IE has stropped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available.

When I close that I get the following:

Yes and cleared the cache, BB. I discovered later yesterday that if I just left the logon it would eventually activate but after several minutes, or so it seemed. First logon today has whizzed through. Fingers crossed, etc.

Two minutes for the login in to be processed this morning. Other login ins for other sites working at the speed of light. I use C Cleaner. I wonder if that is deleting something vital to Moneyam?

I've logged in quickly, just like normal.

System has suddenly started to hang up when I close down. It just sits saying "Windows shutting down". Is there an easy (non-technical) cure?

I am using Windows XP Professional.

I haven't made any recent changes (that I am aware of).

Any hints will be appreciated. :)

There are a multitude of reasons for it.

The most common cause is a process that windows is unable to stop. When you ask to shut down, a kill is issued for any user processes. Then windows shuts down its own processes. The process not shutting down may be hanging for a variety of reasons. It could be a virus, but that is unlikely.

A file that needs to be written to may have bad sectors in it and the PC is doing retries and may have maxed out on the retries. As windows is in a semi shutdown state, it cannot tell you what problems it has.

If you find it is hanging then you might try ctrl-alt-del. That alone sometimes does the trick. Try it a couple of times. In theory the task manager may pop up as a result of the Cttl-alt-del depending on how close to shutting down it is. If the task manager opens then have a look and see what processes are still running.

I have found that problems shutting down have preceded a disk failure due to bad areas, but it is not always the case.

An extra thought.

When the PC is hanging have a look at the disk traffic light to see if it doing anything. There is the outside possibility that it is trying to update something. Have you left it for a good period of time, say a quarter of an hour or Ionger?

Encountering a slight problem yet again, when I press trades or the news of a share I get a red and yellow star with a red exclamation in the middle. I have looked at Java and it says Java is updated please has anyone got any suggestions? This is a new one on me!!

As Hays said, the slow down in closing down can be down to load windows updates.

There seems to have been a few recently.

However, I have run 2 cleaners for a number of years and also use Avira as a virus scanner.

Thankfully no problems.

The cleaners C-Cleaner and Tweak-now Regcleaner and Avira have free versions and I was surprised at the junk they disposed of and default settings seem to be problem free.

Worth a look.

Just a suggestion...

Shut down the Toolbars on your browser (eg, particularly the Google Tool Bar) and then re-try.

A good program to download and install is Secunia. It checks ALL your software for whether it is slap bang up to date and updates them automatically if they aren't. Just a few programs need a tadge of Manual assistance from you. eg, Google Chrome being one of them. Reason being, there's a message that needs leaving or ticking with the download about making Chrome your default browser.

As an example, Secunia tells me, that currently, all of my Windows Updates are current and 97 (yes, apparently 97 !!!) other programs are also completely up to date too.
