How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Thanks, Not sure why they don't send an email. I don't read forums very often now.

"It's released next Weds."
Which would be remarkable as no publisher has it!

Just getting to grips with trading the horses and the API goes down during the Punchestown 16:05 race. Had just made (tiny) profits on 3 successive races and was looking to trade out in-running with a small lay bet on the favourite carried over.
The favourite was beaten - who says these events never work in your favour?
4 out of 4 then :-)

Much better than entering on the back side isn't it!

Definitely, Scrip. Haven't had much chance to trade since Kempton last week but am definitely on the right track now (ouch!). Many thanks for another excellent day.

Presumably a number of us have already paid for this book.. may I ask when is it going to be available?
Trading horses "in-running".. isnt that asking for trouble. I speak from painful experiences.. maybe im doing it wrong..

Generally it is asking for trouble, with certain exceptions as part of a strategy. I hadn't planned to trade in-running but I was left with an out-of-the-money lay bet when the ante-post market was suspended, so I was hoping to trade out in-running.
Clearly this is not ideal. I could have just covered my position and given a small amount back to the market but with a lay bet and 9 runners (IIRC) I was on 8 chances of winning to one of losing so I decided to let it run with the possibility of it matching and greening in-running.
In the end, the API failed, the favourite got beaten and (ON THIS OCCASION) I picked up more than I was expecting from the race. It is a hard life ;-)

In running isn't nearly as scary as people make out if you are intelligent about how you use it.

Edward
if youre going in running at Punchestown be very careful as you are at a huge time delay on ATR compared to RTE in Ireland

Noticed that Peter - not cost me anything yet! Is there a RTE channel on Sky?
BTW why does the API report the race times as being an hour earlier than the card?
