That goes without saying, Doc, although I regret being unable to vouch for your own capabilities in either of those departments. Being a man, I suspect that you might have over estimated by between 75 and 100%.

Which would undoubtedly be far more accurate than a man's 9", Skinners.

Unfortunately, Doc, one of those unforgettably long cracking legs is gonna have some holes drilled in it soon and it might not be quite so cracking after that.

ACL reconstruction, Doc. I ruptured it 11 years ago, although I've been able to ski and play tennis with a knee brace in that time, but it's not stable and I've finally decided to let Mr Dinah loose on it with a Black and Decker and his fancy telescope thingey. If I get it done next month, I'll be able to do all the rehab in France during the summer and then get back to Switzerland by the end of the year.

Hils,
I've just been watching a mind blowing animation on ACL Reconstruction on YouTube. I won't put the clip on here but here's a link:

There are actually quite a lot of such video clips. Hey! Better than a Black and Decker is needed for this stuff, Hilary, but I dare bet these guys are absolutely 'Ace' at putting shelves up, etc.

Try here:
http://general-changelog-team.fr/en/downloads/viewdownload/20-outils-de-xplode/2-adwcleaner
The Download button is pale lime green, has an arrow aiming downwards and is labelled 'Telecharger (download)'
This version is actually AdwCleaner v3.022.
As usual when doing downloads/installs, do take care on what boxes you tick and as a general rule, don't install anything other than the program itself.
Once it's up and running, do a Scan and it will check out Chrome, IE, Firefox browsers for you. It's simple to use. And you can clear out any crap that it finds, if it actually does find any, quite easily.

Italian student has now gone off to the public library to do research (student start time is usually about now!) and also to find out if her laptop can access their WiFi. I expect the whole of Norwich to be blacked out any time soon.
I see Orange/EE have had yet another extensive outage over the last 24 hours, which isn't helping my diagnostics either! :o(

Doc,
The surgery doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'll be asleep anyway, and I'll be sure to tell 'em which knee it is beforehand. What bothers me is the rehab which is meant to be really hard work and last between 6 and 9 months.
Haystack,
I've already got a pukka hinged knee brace for ACL problems that I use to ski and play tennis. I don't have any issue with core strength as I've worked hard on my quads and all the surrounding muscles over the years which compensate for not having an ACL. The problem is that you come back after a few hours and, not only is the thing saturated with sweat, but you're also left with massive red compression marks where the thing has been so tight that it's cut off half your blood supply.
The other problem is that there's an underlaying instability which manifests when you don't expect it. I can be standing still and twist very slightly and my knee will just give way and I'll collapse in a heap. It only happens once every 6 months or a year, but it's not particularly nice (and a bit embarrassing if you're out at the time).
