And Hiltops EA's are very clever and work out how many decimal places the prices have and adjust accordingly.
Pas de probleme :-)

Actually they halve the digits, round the result down to an integer and then double it. It then compares the result with the digits and multiplies SLs, TPs, etc by 10 if they are different
So 2 and 4 digit symbols match and keep their original stops. And 3 and 5 digit symbols have their stops multiplied by a factor of 10 so that they still function as intended.
Pas de probleme.

Hils, dont know whether you can help, but saw a very interesting 15 min chart the other day, where the candles were colour coded to macd. Wondered if anyones come up with something similar for MT4?

Are you sure they're not just Heiken Ashi candles, Gofe?
edit:
Heiken Ashi - a better candelestick.

I know it's been falling today, mos, but there's an upwards ChocolineTM on cable going through the lows since 11th March and the price is still above that line. You can see it clearly on the 1 and 4 hour charts.

Hils, in post 10549 you forgot about taking away the number you first thought of. I think it would change everything :o)

That sounds a bit flakey. Was it 99, Helen?
:o)
Gofe,
So how do the MACD candles work then. Do they paint one colour if the MACD is above the signal line and a second colour if it's below? Or do they use a zero line crossover (this is the same as an EMA crossover)? Or do they paint 4 colours to take both conditions into account?
I'm not sure if I've seen them or not. I've certainly seen a multicoloured tape which paints in a seperate indicator window. You can also get indis which paint an arrow when the MACD crosses over.
The Heiken Ashi indi is free for MT4, so it would be quite easy to recode for MACD instead.

Nobody's offered any comment on my post 10550, but I think it's very important to be aware of it, particularly if you use a US brokerage.
If people want to use multiple MT4 EAs on the same account for instance, and one opens a cable long based on the H4 chart and another opens a cable short based upon a signal from the M1 chart, there will be a problem because the broker will close all or part of the first position instead of opening a new second position as he would now. It will signal the end of some of the Martingale strategies which open simultaneous opposite positions.
The immediate solution seems either to open multiple accounts or find a broker which is unaffected by it.
I received an email about it 2 or 3 days ago from
IBFX, but it appears that other brokerages are doing the same.
Aside from anything else, I don't really understand the logic behind it and I wonder how far it will spread.

Presumably Hiltops if you have (say) 2 positions using the same EA on the same timeframe with the same lot size they would both be closed?
I had cable long and short running last week, both of which closed profitably, but I assume this would no longer be possible for US brokers. That's quite a problem as I see it.

Will IBFX be following it?

IBFX are introducing it on their demo servers soon to give customers a feel for what it's all about, but other brokers will be applying it as well if they are NFA members as I understand.
And timeframes aren't the issue, Flossie. If you want two opposite positions on the same account it will no longer be possible, full stop.
There's more on the IBFX link that I posted in 10561.
