please sing to the weather girls "its raining men"

Spot has started rising,
Downside interest's getting low
According to our sources
There's panic in Tokyo

Cause in Q4 for the first time
GDP was worse than minus ten
For the first time in two years
It's gonna start raining yen

It's raining yen
Hallelujah
It's raining yen
Amen

I'm gonna go out
I'm gonna let myself get
Absolutely soaking wet

It's raining yen
Hallelujah
It's raining yen
Every specimen

Oz, rand, the B-R-L
Even Turkey too- wow, bloody hell!

God bless mother nature
With some help from the Kampo, too
She took a call from the MOF
And did what she had to do

She taught the market who's the boss
And put a bid under every yen cross

It's raining yen
Hallelujah
It's raining yen
Amen

hilary - 16 Apr 2009 12:30 - 10555 of 11056

I know it's been falling today, mos, but there's an upwards ChocolineTM on cable going through the lows since 11th March and the price is still above that line. You can see it clearly on the 1 and 4 hour charts.

goforit - 16 Apr 2009 12:32 - 10556 of 11056

no its not ashi, genesis(think thats their name) software do it, probably send you an email with it if you want, think it looks really interesting if you use macd to trade with

mosman - 16 Apr 2009 12:47 - 10557 of 11056

chocoline lol

there is defiantly a diversification play going on with the euro being the main currency being sold and GBP,CAD,AUS have been certainly been the flavor and overall i think GBP will outperform this year,in the next few days however mervyn has clealry told gordon that the pot is dry,,but they may try to force more debt through.look at GBP performance since QE and you can see the market is clearly behind the BoE.

if you want to look at an intresting figure take a look at the latest figs on US credit card debt 8% offically but more likie 15 %, this overall will point to a lower us$ going forward.

also if you watch gold people talking about a serious top being put inplace here but i am not sure i still subscribe to the $1,000 and above camp

HelenW - 16 Apr 2009 13:44 - 10558 of 11056

Hils, in post 10549 you forgot about taking away the number you first thought of. I think it would change everything :o)

hilary - 16 Apr 2009 13:54 - 10559 of 11056

That sounds a bit flakey. Was it 99, Helen?

:o)

Gofe,

So how do the MACD candles work then. Do they paint one colour if the MACD is above the signal line and a second colour if it's below? Or do they use a zero line crossover (this is the same as an EMA crossover)? Or do they paint 4 colours to take both conditions into account?

I'm not sure if I've seen them or not. I've certainly seen a multicoloured tape which paints in a seperate indicator window. You can also get indis which paint an arrow when the MACD crosses over.

The Heiken Ashi indi is free for MT4, so it would be quite easy to recode for MACD instead.

goforit - 16 Apr 2009 14:46 - 10560 of 11056

Hils, three colours, green when macd and hist are above zero, red when both below and black when you got one in each camp. will have a look at ashi

hilary - 17 Apr 2009 07:42 - 10561 of 11056

Nobody's offered any comment on my post 10550, but I think it's very important to be aware of it, particularly if you use a US brokerage.

If people want to use multiple MT4 EAs on the same account for instance, and one opens a cable long based on the H4 chart and another opens a cable short based upon a signal from the M1 chart, there will be a problem because the broker will close all or part of the first position instead of opening a new second position as he would now. It will signal the end of some of the Martingale strategies which open simultaneous opposite positions.

The immediate solution seems either to open multiple accounts or find a broker which is unaffected by it.

I received an email about it 2 or 3 days ago from IBFX, but it appears that other brokerages are doing the same.

Aside from anything else, I don't really understand the logic behind it and I wonder how far it will spread.

Seymour Clearly - 17 Apr 2009 07:56 - 10562 of 11056

Presumably Hiltops if you have (say) 2 positions using the same EA on the same timeframe with the same lot size they would both be closed?

I had cable long and short running last week, both of which closed profitably, but I assume this would no longer be possible for US brokers. That's quite a problem as I see it.

jeffmack - 17 Apr 2009 08:04 - 10563 of 11056

Will IBFX be following it?

hilary - 17 Apr 2009 08:27 - 10564 of 11056

IBFX are introducing it on their demo servers soon to give customers a feel for what it's all about, but other brokers will be applying it as well if they are NFA members as I understand.

And timeframes aren't the issue, Flossie. If you want two opposite positions on the same account it will no longer be possible, full stop.

There's more on the IBFX link that I posted in 10561.

goforit - 18 Apr 2009 11:22 - 10565 of 11056

Hils, have seny you an email(2EA) showing you the coloured macd, only just got it but means one less indicator to monitor!

mosman - 21 Apr 2009 13:02 - 10566 of 11056

still pretty thin out there regarding earlier comment now closed cable shorts and flat goin into the budget.

Dil - 22 Apr 2009 09:40 - 10568 of 11056

Hils / anyone , those times for economic announcements in the header , I know this is probably a stupid question but I need to be sure ... is 8.30am GMT equivalent to 9.30am BST ?

hilary - 22 Apr 2009 10:04 - 10569 of 11056

Yes Dilbert.

Spring Forward, Fall Back.

jeffmack - 22 Apr 2009 13:27 - 10570 of 11056

Cable was always a good short as soon as Darling opened his mouth

hilary - 22 Apr 2009 13:30 - 10571 of 11056

I think it's a two-way play today, Jeffie. All the time it's below around 1.4650 it could go either way, imo.

PS. Not sure how often you check your Pipex emails while you're in Belgium, but there should be one in your inbox.

jeffmack - 22 Apr 2009 13:40 - 10572 of 11056
