dreamcatcher - 03 Mar 2015 17:00 - 10804 of 11003

Cheers Kim, A couple of questions - Will it be ok for moneyam ? Also will it link up to the Bt home hub ? Been talking direct to Apple . They will make one to order . So I can say ring in on the Monday and it be here next day. Like the chap said on the phone, dealing direct with us will give you the most up to date components, rather then purchasing from say the likes of pc world .

Stan - 03 Mar 2015 17:04 - 10805 of 11003

Yes to all that D/C, I have been banging on about Apple for years on here so it's good for someone else to have a go as well.

dreamcatcher - 03 Mar 2015 17:09 - 10806 of 11003

hi guys

my XP is now too old and I am looking for a micro desktop of under £500 naturally with 64 bit, 4 or over GB and windows 8.1

any sugestion?

i bought recently an Acer Aspire laptop V3 571
small 13.3"with 6GB, window 8.1, very fast, though the mouse gets frozen once too often but recovers soon, otherwise very fast

ExecLine - 06 Mar 2015 11:56 - 10814 of 11003

Presumably you use CCleaner from Piriform and have used this program (and other housekeeping) to try to make sure, that what you do have, performs as fast and as well as it possibly can?

If so, go to their (Piriform's) Home page and look to download 'Speccy'. This little program will allow you to take a "specification" of your computer, which you should find quite useful.

Don't be too frightened of buying a used machine from somewhere like AVForums Classified. All PCs are a conglomeration of components from different manufacturers put together in a case. Obviously, do be careful, though.

Here's an example of what you could find. This one is £190. The Seller seems OK too and has 33 satisfactory deals under his belt:

skinny - 06 Mar 2015 12:38 - 10816 of 11003

This looks pretty good value towards the lower spec end - OPTIPLEX 3020 MICRO INTEL

Balerboy - 06 Mar 2015 15:02 - 10817 of 11003

Can anyone explain what an "unresponsive script" is and why I seem to get quite a few that bring the comp to a standstill till it's cleared and can I do anything about it. BB

skinny - 06 Mar 2015 15:05 - 10818 of 11003

Plenty here.

Balerboy - 06 Mar 2015 19:31 - 10819 of 11003

Are the " all in one " PC worth considering ?

Dell Inspiron One 2330 all-in-one PC
has good reviews with bundled - keyboard and mouse - it seems some people has problems with using the touch screen all the time in certain positions.

Investoree - 09 Mar 2015 12:52 - 10821 of 11003

Does anyone know if there is a USB3 to HDMI adapter. I am looking to purchase a new ultra laptop and have been looking at the new DELL SPS 13 which doesn't appear to have an HDMI port to connect to a larger monitor or to a Smart TV.

I have purchased a Gigabit USB3 Ethernet adapter to allow me to connect to a friends router when I am at his house which apparently doesn't have any W-fi facilities. I have tested this using my old laptop which does have an RJ45 port and connected it using the USB port to my router and it works fine.

The purpose of trying to find adapters that work is to extend my range of options to buy an ultra laptop which has at least 3 USB3 ports which will provide adequate capacity to attach additional devices such as DVD's etc.

skinny - 09 Mar 2015 15:07 - 10822 of 11003

Yes there are plenty out there just put "usb3 to hdmi adapter" or similar into google.

You can also buy a mini display to HDMI cable which may help with your DELL - I assume you mean XPS and not SPS?
