Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

Thought Honda of Japan the best player.
Think Holland are very overrated. A bit more positivity by Uruguay in the second half and they would have won it.

How good to watch two teams play excellent football, with virtually no diving from overpaid Primadonnas. Spain deserved to win, imo, but all credit to Germany for playing good football & never giving up. Might as well drop Torres for the final, imo. One of the many 'Stars' who hasn't lived up to expectations.

HARRY ... true but he still gets in the positions to score.
Wouldn't be suprised if he scores the winner for them in the final.

Unbelieveable, some eagle eye has noticed that Germany fielded an illegal player for the last two games, which means they could actually be disqualified - this would make either England or Argentina semi-finalists by default. Check it out on the bbc wesite. Its true England appealed to fifa only 6 hours ago. If their claim is upheld it will mean they face a penalty shoot out tonight.
Carlsberg dont do texts for deluded English fans who STILL think they can win everything. But if they did, this would probably be the best text in the world!

World Cup 2010 - Gambler places record World Cup bet - and loses
Eurosport - Thu, 08 Jul 12:12:00 2010
A British gambler placed the biggest World Cup bet of all time on Germany to beat Spain in the World Cup semi-final - and lost.
More Stories
The 417,000 wager - that's half a million Euros - was placed with William Hill's telephone betting service at odds of 10/11, meaning the punter would have walked off with just under 800,000 if Joachim Loew's men had prevailed.
But Carles Puyol's winning second-half header put paid to the punter's dreams - and we doubt any fan in the world was screaming louder at their TV sets when the referee denied Germany a late penalty.
William Hill spokesman Graham Sharp admitted before the match that a Germany win would be a disaster, with the nation having received huge backing throughout the tournament including a 67,000 bet being placed on them before the championship at 14/1.
But Spain have also attracted the high-rollers, with one man putting 50,000 on Fernando Torres and co to lift the trophy.

Paul the Octopus predicts : Spain to win the final and Germany for the third place......I'm not so sure.....if the Dutch take a lead, they will be far more difficult to break down than the Germans.....the Spaniards then to score twice ?...difficult.....would not put a bet either way until the final gets underway...on paper it looks like going Spain's way, but this could be a tremendous final with these two cracking teams....

Paul picks Spain!
The 'oracle octopus' makes his prediction for the World Cup final...
will he be right for the eighth time?
He predicts Germany will be Uruguay for third place
What has eight legs but no backbone? No, not the England team's lily-livered defence.
It's Paul the octopus - who, incredibly, has correctly predicted the outcome
of all six of Germany's World Cup matches.
Today, during a live television broadcast, Paul predicted Germany would beat Uruguay
in the third place playoff match on Saturday - his seventh prediction of the tournament.
And now he has made his eighth - and possibly the most important -
prediction: that Spain will win the final.
