Biofuels Corporation. (BFC)

wilbs - 07 Jul 2004 19:47

The main activity of Biofuels is the large scale production and exploitation of biodiesel and glycerine following the construction and commissioning of the initial plant.

Biodiesel is produced from vegetable oils and, as an environmentally friendly product, can make a significant contribution towards reducing green house gases and meeting Kyoto targets.

wonder why Barclays would continue to buy unless there is some clever scheme related to the (inevitable?) d4e

hlyeo98 - 02 Apr 2007 19:36 - 1095 of 1184

That's what I'm saying, cynic. (post 1091)

cynic - 02 Apr 2007 20:12 - 1096 of 1184

am no longer short, though would be if it was possible ... so that's what i am saying .... and for sure would not be holding if long; odds stacked against you

beanflicker - 03 Apr 2007 22:49 - 1097 of 1184

I bought 4500 shares at 27.5p each, they are now worth approx. 16p each. Any advice as to what I should do would be very much appreciated.

Do I just take what I can get now and run, or do I hang in there and hope that things improve?

If D4E swap happens what is the likely outcome for my shares, do I lose a number of shares or do I keep the same quantity but the value of my shares is decreased?

I sort of assumed that if there are 49,000,000 shares in issue and Barclays took 50% of the company there would in theory be 98,000,000 shares in issue making the value of existing share holders shares halved??

This is all purely guess work on my part and after my failed investment on CHP (bought @ 17p sold @ 16.5p), BFC is only my second investment and it is probably quite obvious that I have a lot to learn.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Cynic - price of crude will sky rocket so biodiesel will become a far more popular and cheaper alternative fuel - so yes there is a big effect.

cynic - 04 Apr 2007 06:12 - 1099 of 1184

GDP .... biodiesel will almost certaionly become more popular over time, but that does not mean that every cruddy little biofuel company is a potential gold mine, and BFC has does not even have the appearance of iron pyrites (fool's gold!)

BEAN* ...... imo, cut your losses .... D4E will cut or even decimate the little value of what you have left

Big Al - 04 Apr 2007 07:43 - 1100 of 1184

Corn, etc has already rocketed as has many other raw materials for biofuel. It'll become as pricey as crude and other users, eg farmers, will charge more for their product.

It's a vicious circle.

Either way, chances are BFC is for the knackers yard. ;-))

cynic - 04 Apr 2007 07:59 - 1101 of 1184

did i hear an echo .... lol!

Big Al - 04 Apr 2007 12:35 - 1102 of 1184

As predicted, last week's bounce to 23p was of the dead cat variety.

LOL

cynic - 04 Apr 2007 12:39 - 1103 of 1184

golly gosh! .... have barclays stopped sweeping up everyone's droppings? ..... sp now 14.5/16

Big Al - 04 Apr 2007 12:40 - 1104 of 1184

Just a shame I didn't heed my own advice. ;-((

cynic - 04 Apr 2007 13:18 - 1105 of 1184

hope that just means that you did not short, which would not have been easy or even possible ..... I tried!

cynic - 04 Apr 2007 14:47 - 1106 of 1184

women and children first ...... severe list to port

Big Al - 05 Apr 2007 11:05 - 1107 of 1184

Woof! ;-0

cynic - 05 Apr 2007 11:06 - 1108 of 1184

this stock has been a dog for quite a while!

hlyeo98 - 05 Apr 2007 11:36 - 1109 of 1184

Cynic ... look at WCC...very good prospect.

cynic - 05 Apr 2007 11:37 - 1110 of 1184

do you think i don't have a proper job? ... lol!

hlyeo98 - 05 Apr 2007 11:44 - 1111 of 1184

hey, cynic no offence.

beanflicker - 18 Apr 2007 13:38 - 1112 of 1184

What's the latest? Is it all quiet until end of May when BFC announce D4E or extra funding?

cynic - 27 Apr 2007 13:17 - 1113 of 1184

bean* .... can't work out how to send you a message through the system here ..... obvious very thick! ..... anyway, in answer to your e-, not incidentally that i really do know what i am talking about, but merely a purveyor of occasional common sense ......

i am no longer short of BFC, not because i think the company will survive, but because i do not understand why Barclays Investements (or whatever they are called) have been increasing their stake ..... seems totally nuts to me, as my brain says D4E is inevitable and must decimate shareholders' interests.

you may find this share difficult to short ..... i tried to when sp was a bit higher, but clearly there were no holders (then) who were prepared to lend the necessary stock ..... also, depending on how you deal, your broker may not offer a shorting facility .... that said, assuming it is available, you could take out a put option which has a similar effect .... ask your broker
