Thanks P, will have look

Priscilla - 11 Aug 2004 11:50 - 11270 of 23498

Eureka! The mouse on this p.c. was ancient and after it froze several times yesterday, it finally ceased to come on at all this morning. Went to Tottenham Court Road, spoke to a wizard and he recommended buying a wireless USB mouse which would just override the old PS2 mouse. Easy installation, (even for me!), and it works first time.....! Cost 35 as against a service engineer coming out for ...wait for it......200+VAT for the first hour, no parts included!

Drinks all round......and I'll have a Pimms, please!

(Who says girlies can't do techie?!)

chocolat - 11 Aug 2004 12:00 - 11271 of 23498

'ello P - I'll join you

snoball - 11 Aug 2004 13:04 - 11272 of 23498

Where can I do a service engineer course?

Priscilla - 11 Aug 2004 13:09 - 11273 of 23498

Micro Anvika, I should think, snoball!

Time for another Pimms, I think. Can I get one for anybody else.....? Choccy?

jj50 - 11 Aug 2004 13:12 - 11274 of 23498

Priscilla, Pimms for me please.... Good news with the mouse, well done. Are you having good weather ... very grey here today

Priscilla - 11 Aug 2004 13:15 - 11275 of 23498

blue skies down South today, jj, after all the rain yesterday morning. This afternoon I'm going to push my luck and changeover the printers. My old one requires ink cartridges which are 'no longer supported'! Built-in obsolescence, eh?

Golddog - 11 Aug 2004 13:24 - 11276 of 23498

Steady girls!

Poochy coming through with tea and cream cakes, and do'nuts for the boys.

Chocy, The whipped fingers is a delicate operation of cake making but maybe i will tell you my secret one day and you to can make whipped choc fingers.

jj50 - 11 Aug 2004 13:43 - 11277 of 23498

Poochy, Yum tea and cream cakes - I'll just finish my Pimms first - bit of a strange mixture. Why do boys prefer do'nuts?!!

Priscilla, I'll pour you another Pimms if you are to face the printer later - wouldn't like you to get carried away with your own success :-))

optomistic - 11 Aug 2004 16:19 - 11278 of 23498

Now must be the time for that large pot of tea. Will ask just casually, anyone had a good day? Apart from Priscilla and her mouse, how did you fair with the printer Priscilla? looks like I am in the market for one as well.

jeffmack - 11 Aug 2004 16:44 - 11279 of 23498

Greetings

Bad day for the GWG brigade

Kayak - 11 Aug 2004 17:27 - 11280 of 23498

Priscilla, what the salesman at Tottenham Court Road didn't tell you is that a replacement PS/2 mouse would have solved your problem too but would only have cost 5 or so :-)

Priscilla - 11 Aug 2004 20:07 - 11281 of 23498

Ah, I did think of that, Kayak, but not knowing what was wrong with the mouse was the problem. The know-all said it could be the hardware, software or something else. (Something about Motherboards?) Anyway, I decided to save myself endless trips trying to locate the problem and returning mouses and opted for the cordless, which is one less thing to fall over! This one is also quite cute - even if it is council-rodent-grey!

Big Al - 11 Aug 2004 21:12 - 11282 of 23498

Evening - and to you Prissy! ;-))) Bloody rodents, eh?

Looks like I missed the donuts, cream cakes, tea and all sorts of goodies. Do you lot never work during the day? LOL!

It's only Wednesday and I'm cream crackered already. Hangover and tech probs Monday, news feeds yesterday and today and live prices/charts from one supplier today. How are you supposed to make a bob or two?

Ne'er mind. Large glass of something - not sure 'bout Pimms. Isn't that what those Fulfords drink? ;-))

..................and rest!

optomistic - 11 Aug 2004 21:17 - 11283 of 23498

Look in the fridge Al, always some donuts in there sherry trifle as well, never without sherry trifle, we have a very regular customer for that :-))

Socrates - 11 Aug 2004 23:24 - 11284 of 23498

What ho everybody, bit late in today due to having a busy evening searching for my ancestors. So here I am just in time for a bucket of sherry trifle and a quick half of CdeM.

Priscilla
Cordless mouse eh! I have one of those too. If your mouse pointer suddenly seems to stop reacting to your movements you probably need new batteries. Watch out for it, they don't last as long as you might wish. I always keep a spare set or two in my bottom drawer.

Hey Big Al, I work during the day, or at least that's what I tell my boss.

STORMCALLER - 12 Aug 2004 00:18 - 11285 of 23498

Evening all,
Need a quick thin "wimps" G & T to sustain me as I still have more to do, as always!

STORMCALLER - 12 Aug 2004 00:26 - 11286 of 23498

That's the trouble with a G & T, you wait for ages and then two come along at once, I'll have another.

STORMCALLER - 12 Aug 2004 00:36 - 11287 of 23498

The other problem with G & T of course, if you have too many they start to taste of carpet, so I had better leave it at that.
Goodnight
